Treasure Nest

18" x 24"
collage and acrylic on canvas
collaboration with Matt Grothman
(August 2007)

Once I was walking in downtown San Francisco with my friend and current roommate Jesse. We saw a dead pigeon and then a broken glass wall which contained a shiny golden material which looked like the earwax of everyone in San Francisco deposited there together. Jesse called it a treasure nest. I liked the idea so for a band with my friend Matt we made our own treasure nest, which was really a collection of different sounds. Maybe it sounded like earwax. For this artwork Matt began for our band I thought it would be nice to imagine a treasure nest as a collection of some of the nice parts of the world.
